Although No Stupid Scoffer Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDED FGFG AHAH IJIK LMLM NONO

Although no stupid scoffer IA
Am wholly at a lossB
To apprehend the reason whyA
You kiss Lorenzo's CrossB
-
For though indeed a hundred days'C
Indulgence thus you winD
There does not move a lip but saysE
That you did never sinD
-
Ha but I did not read the wholeF
I see it now the gainG
May be applied to any soulF
In purgatorial painG
-
And oh how many spirits lieA
In such sad bondage throughH
Having too often passed it byA
Whilst gazing after youH
-
They longed instead your lips to kissI
Their wish though vain was clearJ
They fondly thought they would by thisI
Make sure of heaven hereK
-
Indulgence each your lip acquiresL
On them it doth bestowM
And you who lighted here their firesL
Do quench their flames belowM
-
And so you soothe 'tis only fairN
The souls you lately vexedO
'Tis lucky you have grace to spareN
For this world and the nextO
