All hail to the Czar By the fringe of the foamA
That thunders untamed around Albion's shoreB
See multitudes throng dense as sea birds whose homeA
Is betwixt the deaf rocks and the ocean's mad roarB
And across the ridged waters stand straining their eyesC
For a glimpse of the Eagle that comes from afarD
Lo it swoops towards the beach and they greet it with criesC
That silence the billows All hail to the Czar ''E
-
All hail to the Czar England's noblest and bestF
Her oldest her newest her proudest are thereG
And they vie in obeisance before the great guestF
For the prize of his nod for the alms of his stareG
To the seat of their Empire they draw him alongH
Where the Palace flies open to welcome his carD
And Prince Press and People with leader and songH
Ring the change on the paean All hail to the Czar ''-
-
All hail to the Czar the bold Monarch who shookI
From the heart of the Lion its insolent lustJ
That once from the strongest no outrage would brookI
Till it crouched at his feet till it crawled in the dustJ
Who the laurels bequeathed to us tore from our browK
Who extinguished our fame that once shone like a starD
Made our rulers to tremble our heralds to bowK
And our bosoms to mock us All hail to the Czar ''-
-
All hail to the Czar O yes show him your shipsL
Had your courage not failed he had seen before nowK
As they dally at anchor the gag on their lipsL
And the peace loving holiday trim on their prowK
Yes show him your army that mighty arrayM
He so rashly defied when he ventured to marD
The last work of its hands and remind it to sayM
But with bayonets inverted All hail to the Czar ''-
-
All hail to the Czar As ye revel and feastN
I marvel the ghosts of the bootlessly slainO
Do not come from their cold lonely graves in the EastN
From the hillside that looks o'er the desolate mainO
Which they perished to save ye surrender to liveP
To the man ye now slaver all base as ye areD
Do not stalk through the banquet hall pallid and giveQ
The gay toast ere ye drink it All hail to the Czar ''-
-
All hail to the Czar For his daughter he gaveR
Like Atrides of old without shrinking or qualmA
Though not that the white ships might move o'er the waveR
But that ours still might ride in immovable calmA
What Religion could once now can Statecraft persuadeS
And if ye would devote to the furies of warB
Half as freely your sons as he gave up his maidS
Without shame might ye shout then All hail to the Czar ''-
-
All hail to the Czar Are ye then sunk so lowT
O ye sons of the once fearless masters of earthU
That ye pour out the wine for an insolent foeT
That in depths of dishonour ye simulate mirthU
That like unto mongrel hounds beaten and cowedV
Ye crouched lick alternately smiter and scarD
Oh rather my country lay deaf in its shroudV
Than had lived to hear silent All hail to the Czar ''-
