A Wild Rose Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCD EFGF HIHI FJFJ KDLD

The first wild rose in wayside hedgeA
This year I wandering seeB
I pluck and send it as a pledgeA
My own Wild Rose to TheeB
-
For when my gaze first met thy gazeC
We were knee deep in JuneD
The nights were only dreamier daysC
And all the hours in tuneD
-
I found thee like the eglantineE
Sweet simple and apartF
And from that hour thy smile hath beenG
The flower that scents my heartF
-
And ever since when tendrils graceH
Young copse or weathered boleI
With rosebuds straight I see thy faceH
And gaze into thy soulI
-
A natural bud of love Thou artF
Where gazing down I viewJ
Deep hidden in thy fragrant heartF
A drop of heavenly dewJ
-
Go wild rose to my Wild Rose dearK
Bid her come swift and soonD
O would that She were always hereL
It then were always JuneD
