The Talisman Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCBCBCB BBBBDBDB EFEFGHGH DIDIDBDB

Where the sea forever dancesA
Over lonely cliff and duneB
Where sweet twilight's vapor glancesC
In a warmer glowing moonB
Where with the seraglio's gracesC
Daylong toys the MussulmanB
An enchantress 'mid embracesC
Handed me a talismanB
-
'Mid embraces I was biddenB
Guard this talisman of mineB
In it secret power is hiddenB
Love himself has made it thineB
Neither death nor ills nor agingD
My beloved does it banB
Nor in gales and tempest ragingD
Can avail my talismanB
-
Never will it help thee gatherE
Treasures of the Orient coastF
Neither to thy harness tetherE
Captives of the Prophet's hostF
Nor in sadness will it lead theeG
To a friendly bosom norH
From this alien southland speed theeG
To the native northern shoreH
-
But whenever eyes designingD
Cast on thee a sudden spellI
In the darkness lips entwiningD
Love thee not but kiss too wellI
Shield thee love from evil preyingD
From new heart wounds that it canB
From forgetting from betrayingD
Guards thee this my talismanB
