The Poet Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABACDEFG HIJEKLMNOPQR

Until he hears Apollo's callA
To make a hallowed sacrificeB
A Poet lives in feeble thrallA
To people's empty vanitiesC
And silent is his sacred lyreD
His soul partakes of chilly sleepE
And of the world's unworthy sonsF
He is perhaps the very leastG
-
But once Divinity's commandH
Approaches his exquisite earI
The poet's soul awakens poisedJ
Just like an eagle stirred from sleepE
All worldly pleasures leave him coldK
From common talk he stays aloofL
And will not lower his proud headM
Before the nation's sacred cowN
Untamed and brooding he takes flightO
Seething with sound and agitationP
To reach a sea swept desert shoreQ
A woodland wide and murmuringR
