Remembrance Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCDDEDEDFDF

When the loud day for men who sow and reapA
Grows still and on the silence of the townB
The unsubstantial veils of night and sleepA
The meed of the day's labour settle downB
Then for me in the stillness of the nightC
The wasting watchful hours drag on their courseD
And in the idle darkness comes the biteC
Of all the burning serpents of remorseD
Dreams seethe and fretful infelicitiesD
Are swarming in my over burdened soulE
And Memory before my wakeful eyesD
With noiseless hand unwinds her lengthy scrollE
Then as with loathing I peruse the yearsD
I tremble and I curse my natal dayF
Wail bitterly and bitterly shed tearsD
But cannot wash the woeful script awayF
