Demon Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEFGHIEJKKKKLKKMG NOPE

In bygone days when life's arrayA
The sweet song of the nightingaleB
And maidens' eyes the rustling woodsC
Still left a fresh impression on meD
When loftiness of feelingE
And freedom glory loveF
Artistic inspirationG
So deeply stirred my bloodH
My times of hope were cast in shadeI
And pleasure dimmed by longingE
For it was then an evil geniusJ
Began to pay me secret visitsK
Our meetings were quite dolorousK
His smile his glance mysteriousK
His venom filled and caustic sermonsK
Poured frozen poison in my soulL
With endless slandering remarksK
He tempted ProvidenceK
He claimed that beauty's but a dreamM
Felt scorn for inspirationG
He had no faith in love or freedomN
He looked on life with ridiculeO
And in the whole of natureP
He did not wish to praise a single thingE
