I love you I love you e'en as IA
Rage at myself for this obsessionB
And as I make my shamed confessionB
Despairing at your feet I lieA
I know I know It ill becomes meC
I am too old time to be wiseD
But how This love it overcomes meC
A sickness this in passion's guiseD
When you are near I'm filled with sadnessE
When far I yawn for life's a boreF
I must pour out this love this madnessE
There's nothing that I long for moreF
When your shirts rustle when my angelG
Your girlish voice I hear when yourF
Light step sounds in the parlour strangelyC
I turn confused perturbed unsureH
Your frown and I'm in pain I languishI
You smile and joy defeats distressJ
My one reward for a day's anguishI
Comes when your pale hand love I kissK
When you sit bent over your sewingL
Your eyes cast down and fine curls blowingL
About your face with tendernessE
I like childlike watch my heart o'erflowingL
With love in my gaze a caressJ
Shall I my jealousy and yearningL
Describe my bitterness and woeM
When by yourself on some bleak morningL
Off on a distant walk you goM
Or with another spend the eveningL
And with him near the piano playN
Or for Opochka leave or grievingL
Weep and in silence pass the dayN
Alina Pray relent have mercyC
I dare not ask for love with allO
My many sins both great and smallO
I am perhaps of love unworthyC
But if feigned love if you wouldP
Pretend you'd easily deceive meC
For happily would I believe meC
Deceive myself if but I couldP
