Rhyme Scheme: ABBCBDEDBFFGHHGA lot of us were on the bark | A |
Some framed a sail for windy weather | B |
The others strongly and together | B |
Moved oars In silence sunk | C |
Keeping a rudder strong and clever | B |
The skipper drove the heavy skiff | D |
And I with careless belief | E |
I sang for sailors But the stiff | D |
Whirl smashed at once the waters' favor | B |
All dead the captain and his guard | F |
But I the enigmatic bard | F |
Was thrown to the shore alone | G |
I sing the former anthems yet | H |
And dry my mantle torn and wet | H |
In beams of sun under a stone | G |
