On A Fan Of The Author's Design Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCCDDEEFGHHCC

Come gentle Air th' AEolian shepherd saidA
While Procris panted in the secret shadeB
Come gentle Air the fairer Delia criesC
While at her feet her swain expiring liesC
Lo the glad gales o'er all her beauties strayD
Breathe on her lips and in her bosom playD
In Delia's hand this toy is fatal foundE
Nor could that fabled dart more surely woundE
Both gifts destructive to the givers proveF
Alike both lovers fall by those they loveG
Yet guiltless too this bright destroyer livesH
At random wounds nor knows the wound she givesH
She views the story with attentive eyesC
And pities Procris while her lover diesC
