The Year's Adieu Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABACAC ADADAEAE AFAFAFAF

Just as the year is endingA
As winter snows the leavesB
The autumn glow pretendingA
The winter chill deceivesB
As squirrels start defendingA
Their caches undergroundC
December's shiver pendingA
And swallows southward boundC
-
The cool of day is blendingA
As it frosts the forest floorD
Into the sunset tendingA
To be sooner than beforeD
The boughs of treetops bendingA
As gales race through their formE
Spiralling and wendingA
Propelled by winter's stormE
-
And so the nightfall sendingA
As shadows shade the skyF
The cool of night and rendingA
The fair of day awryF
With winter's shroud descendingA
To cause the season's drearF
Just as the year is endingA
The closing of the yearF
