The Mourning After The Morning After Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABC DD CEC FF FGF HH CGI JJ FKL MM

The day came slowly as I peered out from behind my eyesA
There was no noise only nonsenseB
The sunrise had chosen not to wait for meC
-
He was needless of my acquaintance as he clambered over the hillD
As the day was yet stillD
-
A forlorn bottle lay reposing on the floor beside me for companyC
His once golden torso now appeared transparent and vacantE
He cast his wide open eye over me curiouslyC
-
I wondered what he wondered what he thoughtF
I expect it was noughtF
-
Far away in the kitchen the coffee pot murmured and babbledF
His familiar fragrance filling the morning airG
As I thought of the blackness that he embodiedF
-
I recalled the blackness of the night beforeH
As I lay on the floorH
-
Suddenly a feminine voice cried CoffeeC
Her unfamiliar fragrance filling the morning airG
Where the hell did she come fromI
-
Oh wellJ
Time will tellJ
-
I cautiously attempted to standF
Stumbling across to the table in the next roomK
I resolved never to partake of such a thing againL
-
This morning of abject sorrowM
At least not until tomorrowM
