Satan visits oftenA
He arrives at dead of nightB
He councels meC
Where I should beC
He exhorts with all his mightB
-
Satan visits oftenA
I find him in the darkD
Tine figured headE
Eyes fiery redE
A prong to make his markD
-
Satan visits oftenA
Ghostly in his cloakF
My troth to breakG
My soul to takeG
My very faith to chokeF
-
Satan visits oftenA
Expounding where I'm wrongH
He effects his sayI
Till break of dayI
He attests where I belongH
-
Satan visits oftenA
Bearing bread and wineJ
I may not knowK
Which way I'll goK
Mayhaps with him I'll dineJ
