The Chestnut Glade Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABA ABA ABA ABA ABA ABAA

The chestnut tree within the gladeA
One half a mile past Windy LeaB
There in the cool refreshing shadeA
-
A friend indeed in her I madeA
She stood upright aloft was sheB
The chestnut tree within the gladeA
-
Out in the breeze she gently swayedA
To ing fro ing so wildly freeB
There in the cool refreshing shadeA
-
Her spreading leafy boughs cascadeA
She open limbed to welcome meB
The chestnut tree within the gladeA
-
Round and about where squirrels playedA
And romped a happy joyful spreeB
There in the cool refreshing shadeA
-
Yet youthful brightness starts to fadeA
My eyes grow old I barely seeB
The chestnut tree within the gladeA
There in the cool refreshing shadeA
