Ten Summers Bygone Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCB DEFE GHIH JKLK MNOP

Ten summers have passed since I wandered there lastA
Though I've never forgotten the wayB
Many times I have thought that maybe I oughtC
Let tendency lead me astrayB
-
When once I was young and springtime had sprungD
And all of the day was sunlitE
It was then I was swayed by a maudlin charadeF
Much more than I care to admitE
-
How demons evoke when we met by the oakG
Blaze whispered and purred in our earsH
I think of it yet during evening's onsetI
It has stayed with me down through the yearsH
-
Then time scurried by and so you and IJ
Were mislaid in a blizzard so coldK
Where time is the thief of forbidden beliefL
And sombre remorses grow oldK
-
Yet today I don't mind of the times when I findM
Reflections bear all that remainN
I know that alas ten winters could passO
Before I may go there againP
