Rhyme Scheme: ABACA DEDFG HIHJK LMLLLLYou may grieve on this darkest of days | A |
You may weep tears of demulcent dew | B |
And ponder the wonder of God's cruelest ways | A |
Though ne'er understand their reason or rhyme | C |
Nor unravel the ruse that he ruthlessly plays | A |
- | |
Alone in your anguish your tempest and rain | D |
Far from the sunshine high summer once brought | E |
Forlorn in the torture of sadness and pain | D |
Where lightness and brightness have now disappeared | F |
Bereft in the wilderness alone once again | G |
- | |
Below the clouds drifting blackened and lost | H |
The soul becomes naked banished and damned | I |
Mere thoughts become worthless tumbled and tossed | H |
And all is now nought in a world void of care | J |
The price you must pay now the grief is the cost | K |
- | |
And though in the ending when all has been said | L |
Nil desperandum as faith shall go on | M |

And all the misleading has surmounted instead | L |
Yet when all the bleeding has bravely been bled | L |
Don't grieve for too long or you'll waken the dead | L |
