Pater Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCD EFEFGHGHI had so much to tell you | A |
A while ago away | B |
And although our tidings few | A |
There seemed so much to say | B |
When you were old Whilst I was young | C |
I might have listened when | D |
A weave of words together strung | C |
Were tendered now and then | D |
- | |
But note the hour has wandered late | E |
And dulls the muse of mind | F |
Time and tide for no man wait | E |
Ago remains behind | F |
So words unspoken not to know | G |
Are words that time forgot | H |
They mattered to me then ago | G |
But now they matter not | H |
