Pater Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCD EFEFGHGH| I had so much to tell you | A |
| A while ago away | B |
| And although our tidings few | A |
| There seemed so much to say | B |
| When you were old Whilst I was young | C |
| I might have listened when | D |
| A weave of words together strung | C |
| Were tendered now and then | D |
| - | |
| But note the hour has wandered late | E |
| And dulls the muse of mind | F |
| Time and tide for no man wait | E |
| Ago remains behind | F |
| So words unspoken not to know | G |
| Are words that time forgot | H |
| They mattered to me then ago | G |
| But now they matter not | H |
