I Should O' Known (all Along) Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCD EFEFGHGH IJIJKLKL

Were I wise I should o' knownA
To steer a leery courseB
And felt the tumult wind had blownA
Its tempest of remorseB
But I was given to the soundC
That echoed through my headD
And tumbled in there round and roundC
The first sweet words she'd saidD
-
She told me all the world was oursE
Until our days may endF
Boundless love that never soursE
Nor can the years amendF
She said she ever would be trueG
And by my side she'd stayH
But now her words are scant and fewG
My love has went awayH
-
So as I drift into the nightI
And darkness takes its placeJ
My hindsight wishes that I mightI
Have pondered just in caseJ
I should o' known oh were I wiseK
With sense that could not seeL
Wisdom visits in disguiseK
But seldom visits meL
