Fleeting Embers Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCBD EFGFD HIJID KLMLD NOPOD

The memories are warm in the eye of the stormA
I remember the days long agoB
And the raindrops fall wet as the tears of regretC
Dance through the air to and froB
And the nighttime grows cold when the daytime grows oldD
-
The colours and shades of the penny arcadesE
Flash through my mind on a whimF
And the mantra lives on though the music is goneG
For the furore of then tends to dimF
And the nighttime grows cold when the daytime grows oldD
-
Was I ever so young when my springtime had sprungH
Was I ever so short in the toothI
Was I ever so tall or really quite smallJ
In the turbulent days of my youthI
And the nighttime grows cold when the daytime grows oldD
-
Words fall on deaf ears as the sun disappearsK
And the twilight now smothers the brightL
Do the things that I say become withered awayM
In the fading and ebb of the lightL
And the nighttime grows cold when the daytime grows oldD
-
So I lie in my bed with these thoughts in my headN
And anamnesis visits my dreamsO
I forget how it was long ago then becauseP
Forever they're gone so it seemsO
And the nighttime grows cold when the daytime grows oldD
