The night was red as from my bedA
I tumbled to the skyB
The breeze was blue as I heard youC
Around the garden flyB
The day was black as I stepped backD
And felt a gum tree growE
The rain dripped dry as only IB
Would see a rooster crowE
-
I found my hat and stroked my catF
And led my sows to marketG
I saw you say my snout was greyH
So steered my car to park itI
I had to flee to Southend SeaJ
To drop off in the sandsK
I went to view the voice of youC
I walked there on my handsK
-
I robbed a song of two words longL
But coughed it didn't rhymeM
Blame begged my heart to stop and startN
For beating out of dateO
You sailed about the room to shoutP
And say less all the moreQ
From then you came to scream your nameR
You entered by the fireS
-
So as the day was turned to clayH
I scrambled through the wallT
I dug a hill for Jack and JillU
And watched them upwards fallT
From deep within a box of ginV
I spent an inch or soE
I chanced a bite and thought I mightW
Smoke whiskey through a strawX
-
And as the time was now sublimeM
The postman called and bowedY
I washed my words and watched small birdsZ
Pitch snowballs at a cloudY
So back in bed to nest my headA
In time to bake a cakeA2
I fell onto a dullness newC
There slumbered sound awakeA2
