A Lament For Futurity Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCB DEFE DGHG DIJD HKIK

I weep for trees and forestsA
We laid them all to wasteB
Will children have no air to breathC
No atmosphere to tasteB
-
I weep for mighty oceansD
We trashed them to the brimE
Will children of the life thereinF
Protract no place to swimE
-
I weep for northern icelandsD
A thawing polar crownG
Will children of the InuitH
Become condemned to drownG
-
I weep for fields and meadowsD
Poisoned long agoI
Will children of the landscapeJ
Reap no seeds to sowD
-
I weep for man's futurityH
Ere I take my sleepK
Will children of the morrowI
Beget no tears to weepK
