I lie on my back on the cool moist grass,
to gaze up at the Heavens.
Cool, strong wind gently caresses my face
So strong yet so gentle.
My frock flutters like an exuberant butterfly,
My hair flies back, dancing with the wind.
But I am looking at God's great art.
Patches of blue, grey, black cover the sky,
Adorned with streaks of yellow from the setting sun.
The clouds glide in the direction of wind,
Taking vivid, beautiful shapes.
The birds dance in the air and shreik with elation,
To welcome the dark cloud heavy with rain.
Far away rumbles a heavy thunder,
A sure sign of rain.
Tiny drops shining like diamonds descend gently first,
to announce the arrival of God's blessing.
Without much ado, the heavy downpour crashes the ground, a promise that life will continue.
This was just a glimpse of God: gentle and strong, beautiful and menacing at the same time.
