Per Pacem Ad Lucem Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCD EEEE EFEG EAEA HEHE

I DO not ask O Lord that life may beA
A pleasant roadB
I do not ask that Thou wouldst take from meA
Aught of its loadB
-
I do not ask that flowers should always springC
Beneath my feetD
I know too well the poison and the stingC
Of things too sweetD
-
For one thing only Lord dear Lord I pleadE
Lead me arightE
Though strength should falter and though heart should bleedE
Through Peace to LightE
-
I do not ask O Lord that thou shouldst shedE
Full radiance hereF
Give but a ray of peace that I may treadE
Without a fearG
-
I do not ask my cross to understandE
My way to seeA
Better in darkness just to feel Thy handE
And follow TheeA
-
Joy is like restless day but peace divineH
Like quiet nightE
Lead me O Lord till perfect Day shall shineH
Through Peace to LightE
