The Rabbit Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCB DBDB EFGH IHIH JHKL MNON PQRS TUVU

He Was a good carrot munching animalA
my friend's father sold him to meB
for much bargains and some thousand nairaC
Like a slave struggling for fetters freeB
-
-
There in a cage I brought him homeD
but times went by and we turned familyB
Nights and every morning i'd romeD
Rome miles for his cut of green barleyB
-
-
and eager the wakeful bunny'd twirlE
His nose like a toothless aged womanF
Before the bite of his fresh mealG
pure pious slow clean and haleH
-
-
like a virgin maid before a mirror frameI
From the head down to his cottontailH
he'd groomed himself party ready the sameI
His world his imaginations the quiet layH
-
-
his straight antenna like ears the black glowing eyesJ
his humane heart loneliness his humble soulH
Lavish me times kneeing by his sideK
and made my secrets known to his earlobeL
-
-
but there was nothing else i hadM
than to let him go and tell him byeN
like locked grain of sand from the handO
than to cry and cry and cryN
-
-
Than to yield to my mother's solaceP
raising me up in her dearing cheerQ
On a morning I walked to his cageR
That I could not find him thereS
-
-
But behind his death was a foeT
My brother's mad dog who'd biteU
Ate him up and took to his toesV
In the middle of the nightU
