Ye Wearie Wayfarer Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCDAEAECCCC FGFGHAHA GIGJCACAKFKFALAL

Hark the bells of distant cattleA
Waft across the rangeB
Through the golden tufted wattleA
Music low and strangeB
Like the marriage of peal fairiesC
Comes the tinkling soundD
Or like chimes of sweet St Mary'sC
On far English groundD
How my courser champs the snaffleA
And with nostrils spreadE
Snorts and scarcely seems to ruffleA
Fern leaves with his treadE
Cool and pleasant on his haunchesC
Blows the evening breezeC
Through the overhanging branchesC
Of the wattle treesC
-
Onward to the Southern OceanF
Glides the breath of SpringG
Onward with a dreamy motionF
I too glide and singG
Forward forward still we wanderH
Tinted hills that lieA
In the red horizon yonderH
Is the goal so nighA
-
Whisper spring wind softly singingG
Whisper in my earI
Respite and nepenthe bringingG
Can the goal be nearJ
Laden with the dew of vespersC
From the fragrant skyA
In my ear the wind that wispersC
Seems to make replyA
'Question not but live and labourK
'Til yon goal be wonF
Helping every feeble neighbourK
Seeking help from noneF
Life is mostly froth and bubbleA
Two things stand like stoneL
Kindness in another's troubleA
Courage in your ownL
