Potters' Clay Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCBDB BBBBEFEF

Though the pitcher that goes to the sparkling rillA
Too oft gets broken at lastB
There are scores of others its place to fillA
When its earth to the earth is castB
Keep that pitcher at home let it never roamC
But lie like a useless clodB
Yet sooner or later the hour will comeD
When its chips are thrown to the sodB
-
Is it wise then say in the waning dayB
When the vessel is crack'd and oldB
To cherish the battered potter's clayB
As though it were virgin goldB
Take care of yourself dull boorish elfE
Though prudent and safe you seemF
Your pitcher will break on the musty shelfE
And mine by the dazzling streamF
