By Wood And Wold Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCDEFEF GHGIJKJKLMLN

Lightly the breath of the spring wind blowsA
Though laden with faint perfumeB
'Tis the fragrance rare that the bushman knowsA
The scent of the wattle bloomB
Two thirds of our journey at least are doneC
Old horse let us take a spellD
In the shade from the glare of the noon day sunC
Thus far we have travell'd wellD
Your bridle I'll slip your saddle ungirthE
And lay them beside this logF
For you'll roll in that track of reddish earthE
And shake like a water dogF
-
Upon yonder rise there's a clump of treesG
Their shadows look cool and broadH
You can crop the grass as fast as you pleaseG
While I stretch my limbs on the swardI
'Tis pleasant I ween with a leafy screenJ
O'er the weary head to lieK
On the mossy carpet of emerald greenJ
'Neath the vault of the azure skyK
Thus all alone by the wood and woldL
I yield myself once againM
To the memories old that like tales fresh toldL
Come flitting across the brainN
