The Mob Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBAABCA DEDEFF

Why stand dumbfounded and aghastA
As at invading armies sweeping byB
Surprised by haggard face and threatening cryB
The storm unheralded that rose so fastA
Men with gaunt wives and hungry children castA
Upon the wintry streets to thieve or dieB
They cannot always suffer silentlyC
Patience gives out The poor worm turns at lastA
-
And no ear listens to the warning callD
No eye awakes to see the portent dreadE
Must brute force reign and social order fallD
Ere these starved millions can be clothed and fedE
A strange phenomenon this unconcernF
To live so fast and be so slow to learnF
