The Hands That Hang Down Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCB DEFE BGHI JKLK MNOP QRSR

O lord I am so tiredA
My heart is sick and soreB
I work and work and do no goodC
And I can try no moreB
-
I lay my treasures upD
And think they're worth such careE
And the next time I go to lookF
There's only rubbish thereE
-
I tug hard at the doorB
Of knowledge strain and pantG
But Lord the more I seem to learnH
The more I'm ignorantI
-
Sometimes I am so vainJ
I set myself to teachK
But e'en the first beginnings lieL
Utterly out of reachK
-
I am no use no useM
I thought I might have beenN
But now I know how small I amO
How poor how false how meanP
-
Sunk in the dust and mireQ
While aiming at the skiesR
Only a thing to laugh at LordS
To pity and despiseR
