The Dawn Of God's Sabbath Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEFGF CHIHJKLK MNCNOMPM CQRQCNCN

The dawn of God s dear SabbathA
Breaks o er the earth againB
As some sweet summer morningC
After a night of painD
It comes as cooling showersE
To some exhausted landF
As shade of clustered palm treesG
Mid weary wastes of sandF
-
Lord we would bring for offeringC
Though marred with earthly soilH
Our week of earnest laborI
Of useful daily toilH
Fair fruits of self denialJ
Of strong deep love to TheeK
Fostered by Thine own SpiritL
In our humilityK
-
And we would bring our burdenM
Of sinful thought and deedN
In Thy pure presence kneelingC
From bondage to be freedN
Our heart s most bitter sorrowO
For all Thy work undoneM
So many talents wastedP
So few bright laurels wonM
-
And with that sorrow minglingC
A steadfast faith and sureQ
And love so deep and ferventR
That tries to make it pureQ
In His dear presence findingC
The pardon that we needN
And then the peace so lastingC
Celestial peace indeedN
