Honour Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBAABBA CDECDE

Me let the world disparage and despiseA
nbsp nbsp nbsp As one unfettered with its gilded chainsB
nbsp nbsp nbsp As one untempted by its sordid gainsB
Its pleasant vice its profitable liesA
Let Justice blind and halt and maimed chastiseA
nbsp nbsp nbsp The rebel spirit surging in my veinsB
nbsp nbsp nbsp Let the Law deal me penalties and painsB
And make me hideous in my neighbours' eyesA
-
But let me fall not in mine own esteemC
nbsp nbsp nbsp By poor deceit or selfish greed debasedD
nbsp nbsp nbsp Let me be clean from secret stain and shameE
Know myself true though false as hell I seemC
nbsp nbsp nbsp Know myself worthy howsoe'er disgracedD
nbsp nbsp nbsp Know myself right though every tongue should blameE
