A Street Riot Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBAABCA DEDEFF

Poor hapless souls at whom we stand aghastA
As at invading armies sweeping byB
As strange to haggard face and desperate cryB
Did we not know the worm must turn at lastA
Poor hungry men with hungry children castA
Upon the wintry streets to thieve or dieB
Suffering your wants and woes so silentlyC
Patient so long is all your patience pastA
-
Are there no ears to hear this warning callD
Are there no eyes to see this portent dreadE
Must brute force rise and social order fallD
Ere these starved millions can be clothed and fedE
Justice be judge Let future history sayF
Which are the greatest criminals to dayF
