| Oh Nigeria my country of origin | C |
| Giant of Africa mangrove evergreen | D |

| In your good and ugly I d always ever grin | F |
| With over tribes with different languages | G |
| Was once in slavery and freedom was sought | H |
| Then rose our heroes and fiercely they fought | H |
| We were forced into a marriage called amalgamation by the then colonial masters | I |
| Dogged in struggle | J |
| Victorious they emerged conquering every hurdle | J |
| Sovereignty reigns and the economy booms | K |
| Then came the cankerworm that ate it to doom | L |
| A country labeled with corruption on its forehead | M |
| The most religious country yet one of the most corrupt | N |
| Over this issue we ought to pray | O |
| Nepotism is the order of the day | O |
| In political appointments and federal institutions | P |
| What a nefarious attitude | Q |
| The standard of honesty in my country has reached its nadir | R |
| The wealthy unperturbed | S |
| The government undisturbed | S |
| The poor drained of all hope | T |
| Praying for grace to cope | T |
| Military coup was its bane | U |
| I was told that was how it was ordained | V |
| The cankerworm a moving train it is | W |
| Trampling on the common people yet we all watch | X |
| But who will bell the cat and block its way | O |
| To prevent the monster from making headway | O |
| The thought of blocking its path | Y |
| Only to get crushed and it continuing still | Z |
| Is enough to make one rethink | A2 |
| A true menace on my country s rails | B2 |
| I look up and see our leaders in it | C2 |
| I look forward perhaps awaiting us is a bright future | R |
| But all I see is a nation in sutures | I |
| So now I look down bury my gaze to my feet | D2 |
| Close my eyes and pray for its defeat | D2 |
