Shot? So Quick, So Clean An Ending? Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCD EFEF GHGH IJIJ EKEL AMAM

Shot so quick so clean an endingA
Oh that was right lad that was braveB
Yours was not an ill for mendingA
'Twas best to take it to the graveB
-
Oh you had forethought you could reasonC
And saw your road and where it ledD
And early wise and brave in seasonC
Put the pistol to your headD
-
Oh soon and better so than laterE
After long disgrace and scornF
You shot dead the household traitorE
The soul that should not have been bornF
-
Right you guessed the rising morrowG
And scorned to tread the mire you mustH
Dust's your wages son of sorrowG
But men may come to worse than dustH
-
Souls undone undoing othersI
Long time since the tale beganJ
You would not live to wrong your brothersI
Oh lad you died as fits a manJ
-
Now to your grave shall friend and strangerE
With ruth and some with envy comeK
Undishonoured clear of dangerE
Clean of guilt pass hence and homeL
-
Turn safe to rest no dreams no wakingA
And here man here's the wreath I've madeM
'Tis not a gift that's worth the takingA
But wear it and it will not fadeM
