The Empty Hills Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBB CDCD EBEB FGFH

The grandeur of deep afternoonsA
The pomp of haze on marble hillsB
Where every white walled villa swoonsB
Through violence that heat fulfillsB
-
Pass tirelessly and more aloneC
Than kings that time has laid asideD
Safe on their massive sea of stoneC
The empty tufted gardens rideD
-
Here is no music where the airE
Drives slowly through the airy leavesB
Meaning is aimless motion whereE
The sinking humming bird conceivesB
-
No book nor picture has inlaidF
This life with darkened gold but hereG
Men passionless and dumb invadeF
A quiet that entrances fearH
