Stop All The Clocks, Cut Off The Telephone Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABB CCDD EEFF GGHH

Stop all the clocks cut off the telephoneA
Prevent the dog from barking with a juicy boneA
Silence the pianos and with muffled drumB
Bring out the coffin let the mourners comeB
-
Let aeroplanes circle moaning overheadC
Scribbling on the sky the message He Is DeadC
Put crepe bows round the white necks of the public dovesD
Let the traffic policemen wear black cotton glovesD
-
He was my North my South my East and WestE
My working week and my Sunday restE
My noon my midnight my talk my songF
I thought that love would last for ever I was wrongF
-
The stars are not wanted now put out every oneG
Pack up the moon and dismantle the sunG
Pour away the ocean and sweep up the woodH
For nothing now can ever come to any goodH
