Written In London. September, 1802 Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBAABBACDDEFG

O Friend I know not which way I must lookA
For comfort being as I am opprestB
To think that now our life is only drestB
For show mean handy work of craftsman cookA
Or groom We must run glittering like a brookA
In the open sunshine or we are unblestB
The wealthiest man among us is the bestB
No grandeur now in nature or in bookA
Delights us Rapine avarice expenseC
This is idolatry and these we adoreD
Plain living and high thinking are no moreD
The homely beauty of the good old causeE
Is gone our peace our fearful innocenceF
And pure religion breathing household lawsG
