Upon The Punishment Of Death Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABACCDEFGHIH

YE brood of conscience Spectres that frequentA
The bad Man's restless walk and haunt his bedB
Fiends in your aspect yet beneficentA
In act as hovering Angels when they spreadB
Their wings to guard the unconscious InnocentA
Slow be the Statutes of the land to shareC
A laxity that could not but impairC
'Your' power to punish crime and so preventD
And ye Beliefs coiled serpent like aboutE
The adage on all tongues 'Murder will out 'F
How shall your ancient warnings work for goodG
In the full might they hitherto have shownH
If for deliberate shedder of man's bloodI
Survive not Judgment that requires his ownH
