To The Poet, John Dyer Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBAACAAADEEAD

BARD of the Fleece whose skilful genius madeA
That work a living landscape fair and brightB
Nor hallowed less with musical delightB
Than those soft scenes through which thy childhood strayedA
Those southern tracts of Cambria 'deep embayedA
With green hills fenced with ocean's murmur lulled 'C
Though hasty Fame hath many a chaplet culledA
For worthless brows while in the pensive shadeA
Of cold neglect she leaves thy head ungracedA
Yet pure and powerful minds hearts meek and stillD
A grateful few shall love thy modest LayE
Long as the shepherd's bleating flock shall strayE
O'er naked Snowdon's wide aerial wasteA
Long as the thrush shall pipe on Grongar HillD
