To The Pennsylvanians Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBAABBACDDCDC

Days undefiled by luxury or slothA
Firm self denial manners grave and staidB
Rights equal laws with cheerfulness obeyedB
Words that require no sanction from an oathA
And simple honesty a common growthA
This high repute with bounteous Nature's aidB
Won confidence now ruthlessly betrayedB
At will your power the measure of your trothA
All who revere the memory of PennC
Grieve for the land on whose wild woods his nameD
Was fondly grafted with a virtuous aimD
Renounced abandoned by degenerate MenC
For state dishonour black as ever cameD
To upper air from Mammon's loathsome denC
