| When at the sacred font for thee I stood | B |
| Pledged till thou reach the verge of womanhood | B |
| And shalt become thy own sufficient stay | A |
| Too late I feel sweet Orphan was the day | A |
| For stedfast hope the contract to fulfil | C |
| Yet shall my blessing hover o'er thee still | C |
| Embodied in the music of this Lay | C |
| Breathed forth beside the peaceful mountain Stream | D |
| Whose murmur soothed thy languid Mother's ear | E |
| After her throes this Stream of name more dear | F |
| Since thou dost bear it a memorial theme | D |
| For others for thy future self a spell | C |
| To summon fancies out of Time's dark cell | C |
