Thought Of A Briton On The Sunjugation Of Switzerland Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBAACCADDAEEA

Two Voices are there one is of the seaA
One of the mountains each a mighty VoiceB
In both from age to age thou didst rejoiceB
They were thy chosen music LibertyA
There came a Tyrant and with holy gleeA
Thou fought'st against him but hast vainly strivenC
Thou from thy Alpine holds at length art drivenC
Where not a torrent murmurs heard by theeA
Of one deep bliss thine ear hath been bereftD
Then cleave O cleave to that which still is leftD
For high souled Maid what sorrow would it beA
That Mountain floods should thunder as beforeE
And Ocean bellow from his rocky shoreE
And neither awful Voice be heard by theeA
