The Wild Duck's Nest Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBAABBACDDCEE

The imperial Consort of the Fairy kingA
Owns not a sylvan bower or gorgeous cellB
With emerald floored and with purpureal shellB
Ceilinged and roofed that is so fair a thingA
As this low structure for the tasks of SpringA
Prepared by one who loves the buoyant swellB
Of the brisk waves yet here consents to dwellB
And spreads in steadfast peace her brooding wingA
Words cannot paint the o'ershadowing yew tree boughC
And dimly gleaming Nest a hollow crownD
Of golden leaves inlaid with silver downD
Fine as the mother's softest plumes allowC
I gazed and self accused while gazing sighedE
For human kind weak slaves of cumbrous prideE
