Rhyme Scheme: AABBCDEEEF GGHHIJKKLJ

BEHOLD within the leafy shadeA
Those bright blue eggs together laidA
On me the chance discovered sightB
Gleamed like a vision of delightB
I started seeming to espyC
The home and sheltered bedD
The Sparrow's dwelling which hard byE
My Father' house in wet or dryE
My sister Emmeline and IE
Together visitedF
-
She looked at it and seemed to fear itG
Dreading tho' wishing to be near itG
Such heart was in her being thenH
A little Prattler among menH
The Blessing of my later yearI
Was with me when a boyJ
She gave me eyes she gave me earsK
And humble care and delicate fearsK
A heart the fountain of sweet tearsL
And love and thought and joyJ
