The Simplon Pass Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEFGHIJKDLMDCNONP

Brook and roadA
Were fellow travellers in this gloomy PassB
And with them did we journey several hoursC
At a slow step The immeasurable heightD
Of woods decaying never to be decayedE
The stationary blasts of waterfallsF
And in the narrow rent at every turnG
Winds thwarting winds bewildered and forlornH
The torrents shooting from the clear blue skyI
The rocks that muttered close upon our earsJ
Black drizzling crags that spake by the waysideK
As if a voice were in them the sick sightD
And giddy prospect of the raving streamL
The unfettered clouds and region of the heavensM
Tumult and peace the darkness and the lightD
Were all like workings of one mind the featuresC
Of the same face blossoms upon one treeN
Characters of the great ApocalypseO
The types and symbols of EternityN
Of first and last and midst and without endP
