The Gleaner - Suggested By A Picture Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AA BCC BDDAAEEFFGG HHIIJKKJJ CCDBBBBDB

That happy gleam of vernal eyesA
Those locks from summer's golden skiesA
-
That o'er thy brow are shedB
That cheek a kindling of the mornC
That lip a rose bud from the thornC
-
I saw and Fancy spedB
To scenes Arcadian whispering through soft airD
Of bliss that grows without a careD
And happiness that never fliesA
How can it where love never diesA
Whispering of promise where no blightE
Can reach the innocent delightE
Where pity to the mind conveyedF
In pleasure is the darkest shadeF
That Time unwrinkled grandsire flingsG
From his smoothly gliding wingsG
-
What mortal form what earthly faceH
Inspired the pencil lines to traceH
And mingle colours that should breedI
Such rapture nor want power to feedI
For had thy charge been idle flowersJ
Fair Damsel o'er my captive mindK
To truth and sober reason blindK
'Mid that soft air those long lost bowersJ
The sweet illusion might have hung for hoursJ
-
Thanks to this tell tale sheaf of cornC
That touchingly bespeaks thee bornC
Life's daily tasks with them to shareD
Who whether from their lowly bedB
They rise or rest the weary headB
Ponder the blessing they entreatB
From Heaven and 'feel' what they repeatB
While they give utterance to the prayerD
That asks for daily breadB
