The Cottager To Her Infant Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBC DEFFG HHIJK

THE days are cold the nights are longA
The north wind sings a doleful songA
Then hush again upon my breastB
All merry things are now at restB
Save thee my pretty LoveC
-
The kitten sleeps upon the hearthD
The crickets long have ceased their mirthE
There's nothing stirring in the houseF
Save one 'wee' hungry nibbling mouseF
Then why so busy thouG
-
Nay start not at that sparkling lightH
'Tis but the moon that shines so brightH
On the window pane bedropped with rainI
Then little Darling sleep againJ
And wake when it is dayK
