Sonnet: On Seeing Miss Helen Maria Williams Weep At A Tale Of Distress Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCDEFEGHH

She wept Life's purple tide began to flowA
In languid streams through every thrilling veinB
Dim were my swimming eyes my pulse beat slowA
And my full heart was swell'd to dear delicious painB
Life left my loaded heart and closing eyeC
A sigh recall'd the wanderer to my breastD
Dear was the pause of life and dear the sighC
That call'd the wanderer home and home to restD
That tear proclaims in thee each virtue dwellsE
And bright will shine in misery's midnight hourF
As the soft star of dewy evening tellsE
What radiant fires were drown'd by day's malignant pow'rG
That only wait the darkness of the nightH
To cheer the wand'ring wretch with hospitable lightH
