She Was A Phantom Of Delight Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABCDDEEFFGGHHIIJKLL MMNNOOPPAA

She was a Phantom of delightA
When first she gleamed upon my sightA
A lovely Apparition sentB
To be a moment's ornamentC
Her eyes as stars of Twilight fairD
Like Twilight's too her dusky hairD
But all things else about her drawnE
From May time and the cheerful DawnE
A dancing Shape an Image gayF
To haunt to startle and way layF
I saw her upon nearer viewG
A Spirit yet a Woman tooG
Her household motions light and freeH
And steps of virgin libertyH
A countenance in which did meetI
Sweet records promises as sweetI
A Creature not too bright or goodJ
For human nature's daily foodK
For transient sorrows simple wilesL
Praise blame love kisses tears and smilesL
And now I see with eye sereneM
The very pulse of the machineM
A Being breathing thoughtful breathN
A Traveller between life and deathN
The reason firm the temperate willO
Endurance foresight strength and skillO
A perfect Woman nobly plannedP
To warn to comfort and commandP
And yet a Spirit still and brightA
With something of angelic lightA
