Rural Illusions Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCBDBEFGFHF FIFIJIFKFLFL FFMFHFNFOFPF

Sylph was it or a Bird more brightA
Than those of fabulous stockB
A second darted by and loC
Another of the flockB
Through sunshine flitting from the boughD
To nestle in the rockB
Transient deception a gay freakE
Of April's mimicriesF
Those brilliant strangers hailed with joyG
Among the budding treesF
Proved last year's leaves pushed from the sprayH
To frolic on the breezeF
-
Maternal Flora show thy faceF
And let thy hand be seenI
Thy hand here sprinkling tiny flowersF
That as they touch the greenI
Take root so seems it and look upJ
In honour of their QueenI
Yet sooth those little starry specksF
That not in vain aspiredK
To be confounded with live growthsF
Most dainty most admiredL
Were only blossoms dropt from twigsF
Of their own offspring tiredL
-
Not such the World's illusive showsF
'Her' wingless flutteringsF
Her blossoms which though shed outbraveM
The floweret as it springsF
For the undeceived smile as they mayH
Are melancholy thingsF
But gentle Nature plays her partN
With ever varying wilesF
And transient feignings with plain truthO
So well she reconcilesF
That those fond Idlers most are pleasedP
Whom oftenest she beguilesF
